Description
Provide legal advice on a wide variety of matters that arise at the University under the general supervision of General Counsel. Serves as counsel to the President and the Board of Trustees as directed by General Counsel. Consults with and advises faculty, staff, and administrators on legal matters as directed by General Counsel.
Frequently interacts with students, faculty, staff, and persons doing business with the University. Assists in formulating, implementing, interpreting, and reviewing rules, policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures for faculty, staff, and students. Researches legal issues and drafts reports and memoranda for the General Counsel and others, as directed. Assists in reviewing, interpreting, and advising on all applicable state and federal laws.
Pay grade AD52, with salary negotiable, within budgetary parameters, based on qualifications and experience. jobs.tntech.edu
Requirements
Minimum: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; Tennessee law license or eligibility for Tennessee license; at least three (3) years of experience in a law firm, or a corporate, higher education, or government legal office.
Preferred: More than five (5) years of experience in the practice of law; higher education experience.
